This painting was inspired by Francis Bacons Head series. I was inspired by their contrast and the pulling of the paint. I wanted to emphasize the darker areas of the painting and bring out the green of the statue. So I chose the salmon pink background. I created the streaks of the painting by adding a thin mixture of dark oils thin quickly pulling them down with a two inch brush.
